Social events and support

One of the quickest ways to enjoy your new life is to get involved in the social life of the College. O-Week, our welcome program, is designed to help you meet new people, get to know the College and your university, connect with staff and your Resident Advisors (RAs), as well as settle you into life in a new city.

Trin is a busy place! Look at all the ways you can feel safe, secure, involved, and well-supported while you are here. You will be given a calendar when you arrive of everything happening during the year to keep you organised!

Resident Advisors

Our Resident Advisors (RAs) are here to make your experience at Trin a memorable one. Our dedicated team of RAs are also college residents and are here to help you transition into uni-life.

The RAs are also responsible for certain projects, such as events, wellbeing, academic support, Stumps (our student-run snack bar) and sports and recreation.

They oversee our student run committees, which you can volunteer to help with once you arrive, and are who you’ll reach when you contact the after-hours Duty Officer.

At the end of each academic year all current residents have the opportunity to apply to become and RA. It’s a paid employment opportunity and is a great addition to your CV!

Events and programs

The Trin social calendar is pretty busy and we’re always trying something new. Don’t forget, not all social events are compulsory. You can pick and choose what suits you.

Here are some examples of our most recent social events:

  • Themed dinners on-site in our dining room, these include formal Commencement Dinners and our annual Gala Evening.
  • Inter-wing events, such as volleyball, badminton, touch rugby, art, music, and Pictionary.
  • Inter-College competitions include dodgeball, athletics, swimming, tennis, soccer, debating, LipDub video, Fresher Dance Fest and Battle of the Bands.
  • Day trips to Rottnest Island, the Swan Valley, theme and wildlife parks as well as local beaches for surf lessons.
  • The annual ‘Trin’ ball.
  • Community events such as Relay for Life and the Greatest Shave.

Our Music Program allows you to listen to talented musicians while you relax and eat dinner, as well as taking lessons, such as vocal technique.

There’s also Arts Week, Naidoc Week, Secret Friends Week, Proposal Week…there’s always something for you to enjoy and get involved in here at Trin!
