1. How can I apply at Trinity?
New Residents can either ring the college office (+61 8 9423 9423), download an application form from our web site, or apply online. The standard application form is common to all five UWA residential colleges. If you are using a standard application form, please fill in and mail to:

Once your application has been completed return all the following documentation to College as soon as possible:
Completed Application Form (unless you have applied on-line)
Completed Student Medical Information Form.
Two (2) completed Referee Report Forms: one (1) academic reference and one (1) personal reference are required. These must be completed by a teacher, minister or employer. You should also nominate one referee on the Trinity Applicant Statement
Application Fee (Australian currency: $50 for local residents or $60 for overseas applicants).
Completed Application statement form.
A copy of your most recent school report or academic transcript.
Photograph ID (one of: a current copy of your drivers’ licence, passport or university student card).
Three (3) passport-size photographs of yourself.

If you live too far away and cannot attend an interview in person, a telephone interview will be arranged. The interviews are an important part of the application process and also give you an opportunity to find out more about College life.

2. What type of accommodation is offered?
Each student has a single study-bedroom with a desk, a bed, desk, chair, bookshelves, desk light, electric heating, and a large wardrobe - with shared facilities, but there are also a number of twin-share rooms that share a bathroom, (3 without airconditioning 2 with) Ensuite Rooms with own bathrooms (5 without airconditioning and 19 with) plus a limited number of 1 bedroom and two bedroom flats that have bathroom and kitchen facilities. Fees include 21 meals per week and room cleaning once a week. Linen is provided for overseas and interstate students for the first week only.

4. How do I make payments?

1. Bpay (Within Australia Only)
This is the preferred method and is the easiest and safest way to pay your fees. The unique reference number in the B Pay section at the foot of your college accounts ensures that your payment is immediately identified and credited to your account.

2. Cheque
Please send your cheque made payable to "Trinity". All cheques must arrive at the Trinity office by the due date. Please be sure to provide an account reference so that your payment is adequately identified.

3. Direct Deposit/Bank Transfer
While this method of payment is acceptable it is essential that you provide the Trinity office with full details (copy of deposit slip or other details) to ensure that your payment is properly identified. If Bank transfer, please ask your bank to indicate the name of the student as a reference and send confirmation, so your payment can be identified.

4. Credit Card (excluding American Express and Diners Club)
A 1.5% surcharge will apply to payments made by this method. The card may be produced at the time of payment, or, alternatively, the card name, number and expiry date details can be forwarded to the office. If the student has negotiated an instalment arrangement with the Head of College, the accounts office will make credit card payments accordingly, subject to the production of a suitably authorised payment plan.

5. Are there any extra charges?
Telephones [IDD and STD, with voice mail] are installed in each room. There is no connection fee, or rental. Local calls are untimed. However, all residents are advised to use a phone card if they wish to ring interstate or overseas, as these calls are timed. An intial charge (same as making a local call) is billed to the resident each time they connect to their phone card provider

Extra charges also apply to the coin operated laundrettes located within the college.

Residents who are not returning at the end of their contractual period will have their contingency fee refunded providing all obligations have been met i.e. less any outstanding amounts due, telephone, damage to room,  etc. Refunds can be be paid into an Australian bank account or onto their credit card as long as the accounts office has been informed of the relevant details

The processing can take up to four weeks depending upon the time of year

6. Is there any financial assistance available?
Residents may apply for a number of bursaries or scholarships. Bursaries are usually awarded on the basis of financial need and proof of participation in the life at College. Academic scholarships are available for both Returning and New Residents.Scholarship Applications are made available to students through the Student Services Office during the first week of Semester One.

7. May I stay at Trinity during the vacation periods not included in the Contract?
Yes, all residents may occupy his/her room throughout the vacation periods and will be charged the same daily rate. At the end of November through to February however, only breakfast is supplied, and bed and breakfast rates will apply. It is also important to note, that during the mid year vacation period any empty room may be used for conference guests and students will need to make sure that all their personal items are stored away either in the lockable cupboards in their rooms or in the college storerooms in their individual wings. Students will be given notification in advance if their room is required for conferences.

8. How long can I stay at Trinity?
Preference is given to full year students attending UWA. The College does accept a limited number of one semester enrolments but only to accommodate exchange and study abroad students, the mid year intake and current residents who will be graduating mid year. All one semester applicants must be approved by the Head of College. At the end of each year (usually around the end of October) residents are asked to fill out forms if they wish to have their contracts renewed for another year.

9. What happens if I am away during the semester period as outlined in the Contract?
Rebates on the food component only will be given for teaching practice, field trips, hospital placements or other authorised activities, provided the residents fill in the appropriate form available from the Student Services office. This form needs to be completed at least nine (9) days prior to the date of departure. Rebates are not available at the end of the year when summer vacation starts. No rebates will be given to any resident who is absent from college due to disciplinary reasons.

10.What is the food like?
Every effort is made to make the range of food provided in the dining room as varied as possible. Trinity has a 4 week rotating menu and each meal has either a hot or cold alternative which includes a vegetarian option. Trinity has a food committee made up of students who meet reguarly with the Catering Manager. Any Resident requiring assistance with meals, either due to medical or religious reasons should speak to the Deputy Head who will then liaise with Trinity's Catering Manager.

11. If I wish to break my Contract before its conclusion, how do I go about it?
If the Resident terminates his/her residency at Trinity prior to completing the agreed mimimum period, the Resident forfiets the Contingency Fee and Club fee. The Resident must give 34 weeks notice in writing or pay fees in lieu of notice if the room cannot be filled. It should be noted that the notice period does not include any vacation period, even if the Resident remains in residence during that period. Refer to the Essentional Information for students. Any Termination of residence must be approved by the Head or Deputy Head.

13. Do I need to provide my own sheets and towels?
Residents must provide and wash their own linen. Trinity supplies a pillow, blankets or doona and a mattress protector. Linen is available free of charge for overseas residents for their first week provided they request it.

14. What size are the beds in Trinity?
Unless you are allocated a senior room, all the beds are standard singles. If you are over 6ft 3" and need a longer bed, it is advisable to advise students services before you arrive, so that an extra long single size bed can be put into your room.

15. Do I need a power converter to make my laptop and other applicances work in Australia?
If you are going to use overseas electrical appliances in another country, you need to know what type of electrical voltage is used in the country you're traveling to and the type(s) of plugs and outlets used there. consult the following web site for the Table of Electrical Systems used worldwide.
