Trinity Does Open Day

This year we pulled out all stops for our Open Day. Held on the 13th August, in conjunction with the UWA Open Day, our Open Day is a chance to showcase the College to prospective parents and students who may be considering Trinity as their new home. We had heaps of events on the day, most run by the residents, for the residents, to show what living at Trinity is all about.

We started the day with an indoor volleyball competition. Teams were out in force in the hopes of taking out some Varsity vouchers, but alas there could only be one winner. Congratulations to the winning team. It seems as though our rain dances must have worked, because the forecast for wet weather held off all day, much to our delight! This meant that we could go ahead with our next activity, Bubble Soccer in the quad! The humidity meant that the novelty of the Bubble Soccer suits was short-lived, but it was great to see the residents enjoying running around in the suits; for those who haven’t seen Bubble Soccer in action before, it’s quite a sight! Check out a video from the game on our Instagram here. After brunch and Bubble Soccer, we had Indonesian-style BBQ in the quad for lunch (yum!).

The afternoon held a petting zoo for the residents, which was popular as always. Our ressies sure do love baby animals! (But then, who doesn’t?) The rabbits were a hit and the petting zoo’s most recent addition, a three week-old baby goat, stole hearts.

The afternoon concluded with a Sunday Session in the Cambridge Room, featuring acoustic performances by the residents. Special thanks in particular to Nico and Dempsey, for coordinating the event, and to Leni who serenaded us with her fantastic voice.

Throughout the day the RAs toured an impressive 200 people through the college. We couldn’t be happier that we got to show off just what makes Trinity great to so many people! And we’re hoping next year will be even bigger and better. Check out all the photos on our Facebook page and stay tuned for 2018!
