With the changes to our leadership team in 2018, this year Arts Week was organised by both our Cultural Resident Coordinators, and the Cultural representative on the Trinity Residents’ Club. Events across the week had great participation numbers, so we couldn’t be happier with how it ran under the new format.
On Monday we had one of the biggest Inter-Wing events of the year, Pictionary. Residents from each wing battled it out to become the Pictionary champions for the year, and congratulations to South who pulled off the feat! After Pictionary, residents were treated to a screening of the hit sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 with food from STUMPS canteen.
Tuesday was International Food Night, where our international residents make food from their home countries to perhaps educate some of our local residents! This year the food on offer was also paired with some fantastic international drinks - a fresh new addition to the night!
Wednesday was talent night, which is always a highlight of the week. Our superstar vocalists, musicians and dancers entertained the crowds as part of Trin’s Got Talent, putting on quite the show. Congratulations to everyone that performed on the night.
Thursday held our Country Cuisine DInner, with the theme this time around being British. The college was treated to a feast from the kitchen including traditional roast beef with yorkshire pudding, chicken & leek pie, toad in the hole and bubble & squeak. We even had a visit from the Queen, coutesy of our very own Elizabeth.
Friday was games night, with console games taking centre stage. Mario Kart, NBA and FIFA were a hit, but for the serious gamers, the Esports tournament was where it was at. Congratulations to Tobias Graham, Tianshi Liang, Andrew Butterfield and Junjie Goh who were the winners of the night.
On Saturday, the residents took a trip to Fremantle for Beer and Boats! Residents visited the Little Creatures for a brewery tour followed by some tasting, along with the Fremantle Maritime Museum for some history and heritage. The Fremantle Markets were the lunch destination of choice and were a big hit! In the afternoon, Aussie culture was in the spotlight - that is, AFL! Residents were treated to an AFL workshop from our Sport Resident Coordinators, then headed off to the new Optus Stadium to watch the Fremantle Dockers take on the Western Bulldogs (a win for Freo!).
Finally, we wrapped up a huge week on Sunday with a Sundowner in the JRCR. A variety show including a magician and several comedians made for a great evening.
Congratulations to Louise Miolin, Cat Gill and Fraser Puzey for putting together the week, an awesome effort all round. Now let’s hope for a breather before we get back into the events!
